Nefarious: Merchant of Souls

Nefarious: Merchant of Souls

August 1, 2011

Winner of several awards, ‘Nefarious: Merchant of Souls’ takes viewers across four continents to unveil the disturbing trends in modern sex slavery.

The very nature of a documentary involves not fully knowing what footage you will get. That is why much of the story is crafted in the editing room. That was the case with ‘Nefarious’.

In every way, this was a team effort. Each person was an essential player. As an editor, I feel fortunate to have been one who worked alongside the director to build cohesive scenes out of 800 hours of footage. Among other things, this included choosing appropriate soundbites and b-roll, establishing overall pacing, and color correcting the footage to visually flow together.

I also served as the post production manager, which included creating a collaborative, multi-editor workflow; managing all the editors & sound designers under a tight deadline; and assisting with art direction for the animators, composer, & sound designers
